ABOUT THE INSTITUTION.
Dr.Sivanthi Aditanar College of Education was established
during the academic year 1995-1996 with the recognition of National Council for
Teacher Education (NCTE) and approval of the Government of Tamil Nadu for
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Master of Education (M.Ed.) started in the
academic year 2006 - 2007. Recently being Accredited with ‘B’ grade by NAAC. It
is affiliated to the TamilNadu Teachers Education University. It is a
Co-educational College of Education. The college is situated on Tirunelveli
Road, 2 km from Tiruchendur Bus stand /Railway station, TamilNadu, India. It is
administered by Aditanar Educational Institution, a registered society.
Padmashri Dr. B. Sivanthi Adityan is the founder of the Aditanar Educational
Institution and Thiru S. Balasubramaniya Adityan, Chairman of our college.
ABOUT THE NATIONAL WORKSHOP…..
Globally,
educational system are under great pressure to adapt innovative methodologies
and web technologies in the teaching and learning process ,to prepare students
and educators with knowledge and skills they need in the 21st century. The term Web 2.0 tool does not refer to a new version of the
internet or a piece of hardware, rather it refers to how people are using the
technology.
Years ago used as a one-way
tool where we would search for information and access it, the internet is now
used with Web 2.0 tools to 'promote widespread social interaction' and gives us
'new notions of what it might mean to be literate in the twenty-first century'
(Davies & Merchant, 2009). Web 2.0 tools commonly used today include blogs,
social bookmarking, and social networking sites, podcasts, Google drive,
streaming video, Google groups and wikis. The Internet and Web tool technology
offer virtual environment that facilitate collaboration, hitherto, not possible
in the traditional communication system.
Today’s students are “digital
natives” (Prensky, 2007), and make increasing use of Web 2.0 technologies in
their daily lives. The vast majority of educators, on the other hand, still
have little or no experience with these new tools. Teachers and instructors
need to understand what opportunities are available.
Teaching through Technology
is an initiative that has been implemented as the result of suggestions made by
many members of the IQAC community. While we feel that, it is very open to new
technology and the possibilities that it presents, we are not afraid to put our
hands up and ask for help in regards to how we can best use it to further
student development. It was during an our Committee
meeting where the decision was made to act upon this desire to learn more about
how to use Web 2.0 to improve teaching and learning. We are hoping to continue
to implement these sessions in future, as we feel that it is of great value to
everyone in the learning community.
The
workshops were created to support the understanding of how Web 2.0 technologies
can be used to enrich the transfer of “valued” information from the world wide
web and to encourage the interests of staff members in Web 2.0 by providing
training in both how they are used
and how they can
potentially be used.
OBJECTIVES
Ø To makes the education to meet the
demand of the 21st century
Ø To sensitize the participants on Web
tool (cloud computing, Google drive and blog creation) and resource in
education.
Ø To develop authentic and meaningful
learning experiences.
Ø To makes the participant to share
their love of learning through collaborative learning.
Ø To provide hands on training in the
application of web tool in teaching and learning

fosters critical thinking and creates motivated and independent learners.

select and use applications effectively and productively.

DETAILS OF REGISTRATION FEE
Each
participant should pay the registration fee of Rs.150/-which includes note pad
and a pen, usage of internet and PC, refreshment & lunch. The filled in
registration form should reach the following address on or before 2nd
March - The Principal, Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of Education, Tiruchendur - 628215.
The registration form can also be mailed to rathiphd@gmail.com. The
participants should take DD in favour of “The principal, Dr. Sivanthi
Aditanar College of Education, Payable at Tiruchendur”. Simple accommodation facilities shall be made available
on request to outstation participants – both male and female
